app trail day 8

Too lazy to write an entry today so I'm stealing Seth's- I'll start at the end of day 6:

Victoria chatted with her mom and I told her in Spanish that i was an intelligent and handsome boy. She laughed don't know why just stating facts. "Soy guapo y intelligente" I also got to talk to Corey to plan for our rendezvous this Friday, actually now Thursday night late. After a few beers, we ordered Italian: lasagna, hot wings, and meatballs, and also got a salad and a huge thing of bread. We watched a bunch of sitcoms late into the night and eventually passed out to spaceballs. By the way Victoria hasn't seen Spaceballs or Mad Max! Who am I dating. Adding those to the list. This morning came much too early as we had to be out by 11 am, which after some bargaining with the maids turned into 11:25 am. Robert showed up and we were on our way back to the James and the trail. Robert, as I said before was an interesting character. His previous profession before a bitter divorce 10 years earlier was a stock broker and investor. Would not have been my first guess, closer to my last. Also found out he likes classical music, particularly Scheherazade, also one of my favorites. He also told us about how his dad used to take him into the movies halfway through and then stay to see the beginning later and how he'd always be confused and eventually things would start to make sense. Kinda funny. He talked about the last 3 "new" movies he had "recently" seen. "The Day After Tomorrow,"  "Gladiator," and "United 93." He told us how in the 80's he flew on a Concord at Mach 2 plus speeds from England to New York. Also that the French were neither rude now cowards and started talking about WWII. Interesting and pretty helpful guy worth the money for sure. Also, apparently the town has a drive-in movie theatre, might just have to come back one day and check it out.  Today was hot, though easy hiking mostly, saw another snake, think it was a water moccasin. Set up camp early and we are using the sunlight to read, write and collect firewood. Should have a great fire tonight. Excited to be out here and pretty damn happy.

That's the end of Seth's ranting. Boring isn't he? Just kidding. oh yeah before i forget every day you have to plan out where you are going to end up the next day because there are not campsites and shelters everywhere. So somedays you face the dilemma of should i do 2 miles today or 11. Might i also add that Robert had his radio tuned to an 80's station and "eye of the tiger" (anyone know all the words to that one?) was on which was fitting since i wished that that song would be playing in the background while we hiked. Also, we made 2 booboos while shopping: bought kool-aid no sugar, i had no a forced kool-aid smile and country ham that was disgustingly salty and had to be cooked...
